10th Annual Victims’ Rights March and Community Resource Event

The 10th Annual Victims’ Rights March and Community Resource Event will be on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 1:30pm – 4:30pm at the courtyard located at 1215 Truxtun Ave. The Kern County District Attorney’s Office has traditionally held this event in honor and support of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Initially established in 1981 by President Ronald Regan, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is a time to honor survivors and victims of crime as well as the organizations and public servants that support their pursuit for justice.

The District Attorney’s Office will be joining the Office for Victims of Crime in this year’s theme – Options, services, and hope for crime survivors. 2024’s theme is a call-to-action for us all to create safe environments for crime victims to share what happened to them. By doing so, we’re able to offer support, options for life-saving services, and, most importantly, hope.

New this year will be the addition of a Community Resource Event to connect crime victims and members of our community to the vital resources offered by victim service providers. The Resource Event will be available from 1:30pm – 4:30pm. Remarks from District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer and community leaders will begin at 3:00pm, followed by a short march in Downtown Bakersfield that will conclude at 4:00pm. The Annual Victims’ Rights March has historically been an outlet for the community to share memories of loved ones and unite for justice. This year, “Memorial Row” will shine light on the lives lost to violence in 2023. Victims’ photos will be placed along the sidewalk directly in front of the District Attorney’s Office along Truxtun Ave.

For any questions, please contact the Kern County District Attorney’s Office Victims Services Unit at (661) 868-5960.
